The Houser Family to the Philippines

Calvin and Mindy graduated from Crown College in Knoxville, Tennessee with a heart for the ministry. Upon graduation, they assisted for several months with a church plant in Wooster, Ohio. Calvin then took an assistant pastorate position at Calvary Baptist Church in Ashland, Ohio. While serving in their home church for four years, God began to burden Calvin and Mindy’s hearts for the “fatherless” of this world. They became foster parents in the State of Ohio and began the process of international adoption shortly thereafter. The Lord continued to birth a dream in their hearts for church planting and orphan care on the foreign field. Soon after their surrender to missions, a door of opportunity was opened wide to the Philippines.

Over the last four years of missionary service, God has allowed a thriving children's home, Bahay Sibol - Home of Hope, to be established by the Housers in partnership with veteran missionaries, the Gormley family. God has provided a beautiful four acres of property, two buildings to house the children in care, and a third building currently under construction.

In the summer of 2015, the Housers started the City Baptist Church of Quezon City in the northern part of Metro Manila, a region of over twenty million people. This church family started as a handful of people meeting in a small park pavilion and soon became a family of believers renting a large building in the center of town. Many people have been saved, baptized, and discipled. Some are even training for the ministry. This summer, God allowed City Baptist to begin the purchase of a church building to call their own. This building will allow room for church growth and house a future Bible training center and dormitory space. Pray for the Housers and their four children as they return to work in the Philippines in January and focus on leader training, church planting, and expanding the work of orphan care.
